How Much Does Loan Management Software Cost in Kenya? (2026 Price Guide)
"How much does it cost?" is the first question every SACCO, MFI and lender asks about loan software, and the hardest to answer, because most vendors don't publish prices. This guide brings together what Kenyan buyers can actually find. It covers published prices in KES and USD, the main pricing models, the running costs vendors leave out, and a three-year example so you can compare options fairly.
Prices are taken from vendors' public pages and listings as of October 2026. Where a vendor only quotes on request, we say so. Lendpoint publishes this guide, and our own prices are included on the same terms as everyone else's.
The four ways loan software is priced in Kenya
| Model | How you pay | Typical cost | Time to go live |
|---|---|---|---|
| SaaS subscription | Monthly or yearly, hosted by the vendor | From a few thousand shillings a month | Days to weeks |
| Annual licence by size | Yearly fee tiered by members or clients | Tens of thousands to low hundreds of thousands of KES a year | Weeks |
| One-off licence | Buy the software outright, plus yearly support | Quoted per institution | Weeks to months |
| Custom build or core banking | Project fee plus yearly maintenance | Tens of thousands of US dollars upwards | About 6 to 15 months |
Published prices: what Kenyan buyers can see
| System | Published price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lendpoint | KES 5,000/month (Starter), KES 8,000/month (Professional); yearly KES 50,000 or KES 80,000 | One-time KES 10,000 onboarding and migration fee. 7-day free trial. M-Pesa, SMS and USSD built in. |
| Fibo360 | KES 58,000–120,000/year for up to 350–1,000 members or clients | Excludes VAT and user training. Larger institutions and lifetime licences by quote. |
| Loandisk | USD 59–346/month | Priced in dollars, so the shilling cost moves with the exchange rate. 45-day trial. M-Pesa not listed. |
| Lendsqr | Free plan, then USD 50 or USD 150/month | Dollar pricing. M-Pesa not listed on the pricing page. |
| Musoni | Quote (software listings show from about €15,000/year) | Priced by institution size. |
| Saccotek (Kangai) | Quote, either one-off or subscription | Publishes add-on costs: SMS at KES 0.4–0.8 per message and a KES 10,000 Sender ID per network. |
| Presta, BANKFUSE, Kwara, Microplus | Quote | No public pricing. |
| Mifos X | Free open-source licence | You pay a partner for implementation, hosting and support. |

What a custom build or core banking system costs
Some lenders consider commissioning their own system. One October 2026 estimate for a 9-branch Nairobi microfinance institution came from Kolonell, a web development studio. It put:
- a vendor core banking system at USD 70,000–160,000, with 15–22% a year in maintenance and a 9–15 month rollout,
- a custom lending and collections module at USD 27,000–53,000, with 12–15% a year in maintenance and about 6 months to deliver.
Those are a developer's estimates, not quotes, but they show the order of magnitude. For most credit-focused lenders, a subscription system costs a small fraction of that and is live in days.
The running costs vendors leave out
- SMS: reminders and confirmations are paid per message, plus a one-off Sender ID fee per network if you want messages to show your name.
- M-Pesa: Safaricom charges apply on disbursements (B2C) and on Paybill collections, depending on your tariff. Budget them as a cost per loan.
- Onboarding and migration: moving borrowers and active loans in. Some vendors include it; others charge separately.
- Training: often excluded from published prices.
- Regulatory costs that come with lending, not the software:
- CBK's KES 100,000 application fee and KES 250,000–500,000 annual fee for credit-only lenders. See CBK licensing.
- ODPC registration from KES 4,000. See data protection for lenders.
- A credit reference bureau subscription.
- Exchange-rate risk: dollar-priced software costs more in shillings when the shilling weakens.
A three-year cost example for a small lender
Take a single-branch lender with about 300 active borrowers, sending roughly 2,000 SMS a month. On Lendpoint's Starter plan, billed yearly:
| Item | 3-year cost |
|---|---|
| Software: KES 50,000 × 3 years | KES 150,000 |
| Onboarding and migration (one-time) | KES 10,000 |
| SMS: 2,000 a month × 36 months at an illustrative KES 0.60 | about KES 43,200 |
| Total before M-Pesa charges | about KES 203,200 |
That's about KES 5,600 a month over three years. SMS rates vary by provider and volume, so replace the illustrative rate with your own quote. Whatever you're comparing, add up the same lines (software, onboarding, SMS, training, support) over the same three years.
Five questions to ask before you sign
- What is the total cost over three years in KES, including onboarding, training, support and SMS?
- Is the price in shillings or dollars?
- Does the price change with the number of borrowers, members, loans or users, and at what thresholds?
- Is M-Pesa disbursement and repayment matching included, or an extra integration?
- Can you try it with your own loan products before you pay?
Frequently asked questions
How much does loan management software cost in Kenya?
Subscription systems start from a few thousand shillings a month: Lendpoint is KES 5,000–8,000 a month. Annual licences such as Fibo360's run KES 58,000–120,000 a year by size. Custom builds and core banking systems cost tens of thousands of US dollars upwards.
How much does SACCO software cost in Kenya?
Published SACCO pricing ranges from about KES 58,000 to KES 120,000 a year for up to 1,000 members (Fibo360, excluding VAT). Many SACCO vendors quote on request. Lendpoint's loan management for SACCOs costs KES 5,000–8,000 a month; it covers lending, not savings or shares.
Is there free loan management software?
Mifos X is free to license but needs paid implementation and hosting, and Lendsqr has a free plan. Free options rarely include native M-Pesa matching, which is where Kenyan lenders save the most time.
What hidden costs come with loan software?
SMS messages and Sender ID fees, M-Pesa transaction charges, onboarding and data migration, training, and exchange-rate movements on dollar-priced software.
Should I build my own loan management system?
Only if your lending model is genuinely unusual. Estimates put custom lending modules at USD 27,000–53,000 and around six months to deliver, plus yearly maintenance. A subscription system costs a small fraction of that and can be live in days.
How much does Lendpoint cost?
KES 5,000 a month on the Starter plan or KES 8,000 a month on Professional (multi-branch). Yearly billing saves about 17%. A one-time KES 10,000 onboarding and migration fee applies, and there's a 7-day free trial. See pricing.
