Loan Tracking Software: Know Who Owes What, Every Day

LendPoint is loan tracking software for Kenyan lenders. Every loan, installment and payment lives in one place, and balances update the moment an M-Pesa repayment lands. Each morning you know who is due, who is late and how much is outstanding, without opening a spreadsheet.

Why spreadsheets stop working

Most lenders start tracking loans in Excel or a notebook. That works for twenty borrowers. At two hundred, someone spends every evening matching M-Pesa messages to rows, formulas break when a borrower pays twice in a week, and no one is sure which balance is right. Late payers are noticed weeks late, and borrowers who already paid still get a call.

Loan tracking software keeps one record per loan that everything else updates: the schedule, the payments, the penalties and the ledger.

What LendPoint tracks for every loan

  • The schedule: each installment's due date, amount, what has been paid against it and what is left.
  • Every payment: M-Pesa receipt, bank or cash, who recorded it and when, posted to the general ledger with the balance before and after.
  • Arrears and penalties: overdue installments are flagged, and late penalties are charged by your product's rules as separate, visible lines.
  • The history: approval, disbursement, rollovers, waivers, settlements and write-offs are written to the loan's audit log.
  • The borrower: all their loans, guarantors, documents and wallet balance on one profile.

Collection sheets: your daily worklist

Instead of filtering a spreadsheet, open a collection sheet:

SheetWhat it lists
DailyLoans with an installment due on the date you pick, plus any arrears on them. Print it for field collectors.
MissedOpen loans with at least one unpaid installment past its due date.
Past maturityLoans whose last due date has passed with a balance still owing.

Each sheet can be narrowed to a branch or a loan officer, so officers work their own book and managers see the whole portfolio.

Balances that update themselves

Connect your Paybill and repayments arrive through the M-Pesa API. If the borrower uses the loan number as the account, the payment goes to that loan. If they use their ID number, it goes to their open loans in the order you set. Nobody has to reconcile a statement, and the numbers on the sheet are the numbers in the ledger. See M-Pesa loan management for how disbursement and collection work.

Borrowers can track their own loans

Borrowers get SMS when a payment is received and before each due date. They can also check their balance and schedule in the member portal, the LendPoint mobile app or over USSD. Fewer "how much do I owe?" calls reach your office.

Moving from Excel or another system

You don't start from zero. Existing borrowers and running loans can be imported in bulk, with their balances as they stand today, and our onboarding team helps clean and move your data. If you are on Loandisk, read how lenders switch from Loandisk.

Tracking is only part of it. LendPoint also handles repayment schedules, reminders and early settlement, and the full loan cycle for microfinance lenders and SACCOs.

For lenders anywhere in Kenya

LendPoint is built in Mombasa and runs in the cloud, so it works the same for lenders in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Thika, Machakos, Nyeri, Meru or any other town. Your staff need only a browser, and your clients can use the portal, the LendPoint app or USSD on any phone. Onboarding, training and support are done remotely, so you don't need an office visit to go live.

Frequently asked questions

What is loan tracking software?

Software that keeps a live record of every loan you have issued: the amount, the repayment schedule, what has been paid, what is overdue and what is left. It replaces the spreadsheet or notebook most small lenders start with, and updates balances as payments arrive.

Can I see which borrowers missed a payment today?

Yes. LendPoint's collection sheets list loans with an installment due on a given date (with any arrears), loans with at least one missed installment, and loans past their final due date with a balance left. Each sheet can be filtered by branch or loan officer and printed for field collectors.

Does loan tracking work with M-Pesa?

Yes. Paybill and STK push repayments arrive through the M-Pesa API and are matched to the borrower's loan automatically, so balances are up to date without anyone reconciling statements by hand.

Can I import loans from Excel or another system?

Yes. Existing borrowers and running loans can be imported in bulk, and our onboarding team helps you move your data from spreadsheets or another system such as Loandisk.

Can loan officers only see their own borrowers?

Yes. Staff permissions are set per person, and lists can be scoped to a branch or loan officer, so each officer works their own portfolio while managers see everything.

How much does LendPoint cost?

KES 5,000 a month (Starter) or KES 8,000 a month (Professional, multi-branch), plus a one-time KES 10,000 onboarding fee, with a 7-day free trial.
